Responsive web design is not a new concept, but now more than ever, is it so very important that your business website is mobile-ready. Rumours are coming down the grape vine that Google will now rank websites higher in search results if they are optimized for mobile devices.
In 2014, Arcane Web Development made a point to ensure each new website is responsive.
What does responsive mean? When we talk about responsive design, it refers to a website that responds to the screen size of your device. So for example, if you resize your web browser on your computer, you will see our website change according to the size of the browsing screen. Utilizing this technology allows us to implement a similar design across multiple screen sizes without having a separate website for mobile.
It is not just Google that is showing this to be a trend, Facebook for example, is now earning around 90% of their revenue from mobile advertisements. This just goes to show that mobile users are the dominating force when it comes to browsing and searching for content on the internet.
Why change my website if it shows up the same on mobile browsers as computer browsers? Having a website that shows up fine on a mobile device does not necessarily mean that it is mobile-ready. For example, have you ever browsed to a website on your mobile phone and you had to “open” and “pinch” the screen to move around the website by zooming in and zooming out? That is a website that is NOT optimized for mobile devices. And we don’t know about you, but when we come across one of those websites on our search for the coolest new sneakers, we navigate away immediately to find an easier to use website.
Why miss out on potential clients or sales just because your website is not ready for mobile users? The solution is simple, go responsive! You’re already responsive? Great! You’re ahead of the game. Does your website need a face-lift into the mobile world? We can help!
